April 12, 2017 -

The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) and VentureWell have come together to support and expand the Design by Biomedical Undergraduate Teams (DEBUT) challenge, which recognizes undergraduate excellence in biomedical design and innovation. The 5 prizes range from $5,000 to $20,000. The entries must show the significance of the problem being addressed, demonstrate its impact on potential users and clinical care, have an innovative design, and there must be a working prototype. Market potential and patentability are also considerations.

The submission deadline is May 31, 2017, and winners will be announced on August 25, 2017. The award ceremony will be at the October 2017 Annual Meeting of the Biomedical Engineering Society, Phoenix, AZ.
